I have tried investing on my own by picking individual stocks – both in the US where I lived earlier, and now in India, where I live now. It was exhilarating while the good times lasted, and traumatic when the bad times started. I realized that I had neither the aptitude nor the discipline to invest successfully.
It has been over fifteen years since I made my first investment with Banyan Tree Advisors. We have been through several gut wrenching market cycles – the Great Recession of 2008, and the recent cratering of the stock market at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. To my credit, I stayed the course with BT, trusting that they knew what they were doing. Their competence and discipline has meant that I now have a corpus which is an important part of my financial plans. I am grateful to them for this.
